Tips For Running Whilst Pregnant

Whilst pregnant, I am extremely grateful to still be moving and doing what I love. Even if it’s not as far or fast as I would like to be doing. I may not be achieving any "PR's" but I'm still running with all the extra juice in my caboose!
So read my running tips whilst pregnant below:
Let’s start with the obvious: NEVER run in pain or if your doctor has advised against it. Trust me when I tell you, you will run again… and running is not worth it. Being a mama is way better than being fast.
LISTEN to your body. Cut down distance. Slow down your speed. And don’t be afraid to walk/run. Most days I walk run now (mainly because I need to pee but still…)
Monitor your heart rate. I like to have peace of mind so never push myself into my anaerobic state. I choose to go slower / breathe and stay in me aerobic zone. I miss the adrenaline as sprinting is more my jam but I just remember what a blessing it is to run this huge and pregnant.
Wear a support belt. I didn’t have to wear one until the last weeks with my first as I never blew up. I immediately started wearing one this time as I felt the round ligament pain from the get go. COMMENT or DM and I’ll send info on the one I use.
If you find yourself being too tired. SKIP IT. Again LISTEN to what your body is telling you.
No time but you want to run? Even 5 minutes is better than nada. At least as a SAHM whose life is governed by a toddler, I try to accept that my 15 mins of running is better than nothing. So just do what you can do. I have run most my half marathons on my training and no sleep. Just my will to not give up !!!
HYDRATE & FEUL… duh…
Lastly, run by a loo in case you need to… go. Pregnancy is no joke. 🤰🏼🚽🧻
It’s been a LONG time since I’ve felt like a #fitdolly but I like to dream that in 4 years from now I’ll get some of my time back to focus on me and do regular exercise again where I can actually push myself as opposed to just winging it. So I hope this helps! And… GO MAMAS GO!!!!
